Beware Drill Baby Drill

Gasoline prices are rising, averaging 41 cents higher a gallon than last year, so once again we are hearing the familiar refrain that this means we need to drill more.

Not surprisingly, we are hearing this from incoming Republicans who will now be running the U.S. House of Representatives. They are eager to find any excuse to support the agenda of the oil industry, which is to have increased access to land for drilling purposes and to preserve lucrative tax breaks and subsidies.

We cannot drill our way to low prices. And as we have seen with past price spikes, the industry’s tax breaks serve only to pad their profits, not keep prices down. In the name of deficit reduction, Congress is about to consider cutting services that provide benefits to tens of millions of Americans. There is no excuse for even considering cuts to vital services to poor and working Americans while the oil industry continues to claim more than $5 billion a year in tax breaks.

Market speculation almost assuredly has played a role in rising gas prices. We haven’t yet reregulated these markets, and we need to.

Despite the BP disaster, Congress still hasn’t passed a spill bill that would require offshore drilling to be safer for the environment, protect workers or ensure that oil companies – not the American taxpayer – are financially responsible for oil spills. Lawmakers should be focusing on that instead of throwing more bones to the industry.

As prices rise, lawmakers also should consider a windfall profits tax. The money should be used to pay for clean energy, energy efficiency and mass transit. If we invested adequately in such alternative energy sources, we wouldn’t have to hear that familiar refrain when oil prices go up.

    What about the Bakken shale

OIL – you better sit down. …

Here’s an interesting read, important and verifiable information :

About 6 months ago, the writer was watching a news program on oil and
one of the Forbes Bros. was the guest. The host said to Forbes, “I am going to
ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer; how much oil
does the U.S. have in the ground?” Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, “more
than all the Middle East put together.” Please read below.

The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only
scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a
revised report (hadn’t been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in
this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and
extreme eastern Montana …… check THIS out:

These cultic monsters would sell their own progeny for a few more dollars. When one considers that we generate enough waste every day there is no need to drill. Certainly, oil based products will be around for another ten years but I think the energy companies see the writing on the wall. People are turning to alternative sources of energy and over time the day of the gas guzzling SUV is history.
If every city built a large solar/waste conversion site and supplemented it with another alternative source such as wind [I’m not a big fan of wind due to its affect on the birds but wind power technology is changing] we could sustain enough power to light and energize our cities day in and day out. Think of the changes it would mean not only to the environment overall, but the saving of precious water needed for hydro. There are reclamation technologies available now that will allow us to take components and materials from landfills and convert them into reusable materials that are ecologically friendly. Items such as flower pots that are made from reused plastic that when tossed into a landfill site [god forbid] will bio degrade in three years as opposed to three hundred years. It would reduce our landfill contents in mass and allow easier identification of any hazardous materials such as asbestos.
We have the technology. We have the processes necessary to do this.
We have Big Energy/Big Auto/ Big Manufacturing/Big Labor who have fought against progress every inch of the way. We have politicians who service these monsters and whose very existence depends placating the Big Boys in order to stay in power. After all the only thing that matters to them is power and profit. That’s the bottom line.
Socialism is great until other peoples’ money runs out. There needs to be assistance programs to help the less fortunate because after all we are a social specie for the most part. We are also at base nature a greedy specie. Social programs should not benefit those who will not work when work is available. Social programs shouldn’t make slaves out of us to benefit the big corporations either. Capitalism is the only system that in its simplest form works. When it is coupled with proactive, positive and legally enforced social programs it benefits the entire country. When it benefits only the big Corporations and their Banker/Politician/lobbyist friends it has then become a monster. It is not capitalism that is bad; it is Corporatism and Big Oil exemplifies that particular monster in every way. It is not money that is evil, it is the LOVE of MONEY that is the root of all evil and these Corporatists and their international “friends” are its high priest and priestesses. Until this is rectified it will not only be the planet that suffers but everything else on and in it.

    Here we go again!
So, what if we discover a vast new source of petroleum in our country? How the hell is this beneficial, except to the oil crooks?
Lest we forget, we have a REAL problem of too much carbon dioxide in our atmosphere, and the addition of more only ADDS to that problem.
Synfuels, biomass, algae, ethanol, etc., are all SCAMS, as is burning ANYTHING except hydrogen.
Not even mentioned is the vast amount of waste heat being added to the atmosphere every day.
The Age of Combustion must end, and soon, for the good of us all.

To the republicans, and any of their affiliates!

You sons of female dogs could give a damn about your public. Your greed has escalated to the point of choking the life out of the foundation of society. Do you even comprehend what that means? Extremely unlikely! Because if you did, then maybe you would do something about it. That is if your greed does not overpower what little conscience you might have. It makes me so sick that the people/corporations who are so unimagineably rich are the ones who get the biggest tax breaks, and yet the backbone of society can barely afford to keep roofs over their heads. How could you be more stupid. You seem to have no conscience about environmental issues, whatsoever. The BP disaster is the worst disaster in the history of mankind, yet you still push for more oil. Obviously you are too stupid to comprehend what that means. You are destroying the economy, and reputation of the USA. Do you understand what that means? You could give a rats ass about the health and well being of the people who break their backs to support you. Is that also incomprehensible to you? I could go on and on and on. But it is unlikely that you would understand, because you are so blinded by your greed. So, I will try to put it as simply as possible, then there is a remote possibility that you might understand. So, here it is. Are you ready? Make sure you are very focused, and open-minded, so you might be able to resolve what is truly being stated here! OK? Ready? Stop being so unconscionably greedy! There is so much more to life than your narrow focus on wealth, and power. Although the Earth’s resources have become extremely limited due to your limited ability to see that there are unlimited resources in this vast universe, just ripe for your greedy little hands to take advantage of, we will never, ever be able to make use of these unlimited resources. Because your backward thinking will cause the demise of mankind first. You are so caught up in controlling everything that you are blinding yourselves to the unlimited possibilities that exist. I only have a bachelors degree, yet I am intelligent enough to comprehend that hydrogen is an unlimited resource for energy. That’s just one simple element. But, that’s the problem, you want to control everything, and limit resource availability. That is backwards thinking. You are holding the whole freaking world hostage with your idiocy, and greed. Well it’s time to move past the stone age, and think about the future of mankind. Since you idiots are in control of everything, then it is your responsibility to move foreward. Be usefull, and try to earn the money that you are scheming out of everybody. Do something that is worthwhile for once. Who knows, maybe it will catch on. Think about the science that has developed so far beyond our economy’s ability to support it, because of oil. If we could catch up to science then it would likely develop much faster. Your stupid economy is the only thing that is holding it back. And this has been true for at least the last century. Think about the original model T Fords. They were designed to last at least 100 years. But they were all recalled, because they were “uneconomical”. Well, maybe to ignorant, greedy, narrow minded morons. But not to foreward thinkers that think about moving on to bigger, and better solutions. Doesn’t it make sense to develop something as well as possible, and then move on to something better. So what if it lasts forever. That’s being efficient, and economical, rather than wasteful. We have so much garbage, waste, and pollution that we are poisoning ourselves, and the environment because of it. Doesn’t it make more sense to be efficient? You need to stop fostering the idea of garbage. That’s just plain stupidity. Help mankind, and the environment, rather than hinder it. We could be mining the asteroid belt by now instead of raping the Earth of all of it’s resources, and poisoning it at the same time. It is extremely unlikely that the oil industry will contribute towards the development of the space industry. They are stuck in the stone age too. NASA has already proven that space is within our grasp. Auto manufacturers have proven the usefulness of robotics. Broadcasting companies have shown that we can do it remotely. Computers have become so advanced that we now have artificial intelligence. Yet most people still basically barely live above the stone age due to republican ignorance, and greed. We are in the age of science, and development. You need to stop holding everything back. People are getting very tired of working their lives away for your benefit. The economy is collapsing, yet you people are benefitting more than ever! Move forward, science can provide more than enough jobs for everyone. You just need to learn how to make use of all there is to offfer, rather than abusing what you want to make available. Can’t you see that there is a limiting factor and that limiting factor is your desire for limitless wealth, and control. If somebody wants to eliminate me for my boldness, then I say, please, put me out of my misery. Nobody could possibly live up to their potential in this stupid economy. There’s nothing worth living for any more. Because there is no hope for a decent future. This screwed up economy effects every aspect of everyones lives.

Well stated, but let’s face it; you can’t reason with nuts, any more than you can reason with stupid know-nothings like the Tea Party crowd.
The bottom line here is that most “buisness” people are borderline psychopaths who think only of exploiting resources and people as if that’s their RIGHT, and instead of recognizing them for the danger they are to the rest of us, we host testimonial dinners to them and WORSHIP their sorry asses as if they were demigods.
It’s the American Way, doancha know?

EVERYONE, GOOGLE: HUMAN WASTE AS FUEL, SAN ANTONIO, to see a CLEAN, CHEAP, RENEWABLE ENERGY that is ALREADY being used to fuel cities, buildings and cars. This has been known since the 70’s and, supposedly, has been suppressed by Big Oil/Coal/Gas & Nuclear, because if the general public found out about it there would be a public outcry to institute it, ending these cartels rule in our society.
